Thank you for your interest in the Master of Science in Cyber and Information Operations. Our FAQs answer the most common questions we receive about the program.

No, the MS CIO program is not offered on the University of Arizona main campus. The program is only offered fully online through the Arizona Online campus. 

You are not required to have a particular undergraduate degree such as computer science, although it may help to have the best foundation for studying cyber information and operations. The review committee will review courses, including whether you have taken Python or similar, for admissions.

No, you do not need to know a programming language, but it can be helpful if you have a background in programming (whether through coursework or professional experience). Python will be used in several courses, so if you have no experience in programming, you will take CYBV 500: Security Programming in your first semester. CYBV 500 is a supporting course that will not count towards the 30 units required for the MS CIO degree. 

Yes, you are welcome to attempt the Python Challenge, an internal skills assessment used to determine whether you are prepared for more complex Python exercises you’ll encounter as you progress through the program.

The GRE is not required for admission to the MS CIO, but may be submitted if you wish.

The College of Information Science does not provide fee waivers for graduate programs. You may wish to visit University of Arizona Global for further assistance for international students. Also, you may find sponsored programs to help you on the Graduate College website.
