The University of Arizona Master of Arts in Library and Information Science (MLIS) prepares students for exceptional careers in libraries, museums and archives, as well as government and business.
Accredited by the American Library Association, our top-ranked library and information science program can be completed online or at our main campus in Tucson, Arizona in as few as two years.
The interdisciplinary MLIS curriculum reflects the diversity of library and information environments, covering an array of professional perspectives—from archival studies to digital curation, from public librarianship to legal information, and from health informatics to academic librarianship—positioning graduates for a wide range of fascinating and important careers.

The MLIS requires 37 units and can typically be completed in 2 years for full-time students, whether on our main campus or online. A capstone internship is required and a dual University of Arizona JD/MLIS is also available. MLIS specialties include:
