Our master’s programs in cyber and information operations, data science, information science, and library and information science prepare graduates to lead at the intersection of technology, policy and practice—solving complex, high-stakes challenges in a data-driven world.
As a member of the iSchools consortium, the College of Information Science is part of a global network shaping the future of information research and practice. Through interdisciplinary coursework, faculty mentorship, applied research and industry engagement, students gain the advanced technical skills, ethical grounding and strategic perspective needed to shape the future of information.
OUR MASTER'S DEGREES
The STEM-designated MS in Cyber and Information Operations, which is offered fully online and may be completed in as few as 12 months, prepares students for the rigorous demands of a multitude of cyber-related careers.
The 18-month, STEM-designated MS in Data Science, offered on campus and online, provides the training students need in data collection, exploration, manipulation and storage, analysis, and presentation to excel and innovate in the data-rich workplace.
The 18-month, STEM-designated MS in Information Science, offered on campus, is designed to help students develop advanced skills in applying interdisciplinary methods to solve information and data challenges. Students choose from two subplans: Human-Centered Computing and Machine Learning.
The ALA-accredited, 2-year MA in Library and Information Science, offered on campus and online, prepares students for changemaking careers with concentrations in Academic Librarianship, Archival Studies, Digital Curation, Legal Information, Public Librarianship and Special Librarianship.
OUR DOCTORAL PROGRAMS
PHD IN INFORMATION
The PhD in Information, offered on campus, allows dedicated students to work with top faculty in the field of information while conducting original research and preparing for a career in academics, government or industry. Leading research in the College of Information Science focuses on behavior and related human factors of information across sectors, from economics and business to health, from education to art, and far beyond.
PHD MINOR IN INFORMATION
The PhD Minor in Information consists of an approved 9 units of College of Information Science courses and a written and oral examination (which forms part of the PhD comprehensive exam).
