The College of Information Science sponsors several student awards to honor the excellence and resilience of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students.
Awardees are nominated by College of Information Science faculty and staff, and recognized in the programs of our Spring or Fall Convocations as well as on the college website. Nominated students may be asked to submit additional materials, such as a resume or CV, description of research, or list of academic achievements.

Undergraduate Student Awards
Outstanding Senior Award
This award honors an excelling undergraduate senior based on academic achievement and overall excellence.
Excellence in Research Award
This award honors a graduating undergraduate student who has excelled in research during their academic career.
Leadership and Community Engagement Award
This award honors a graduating undergraduate student who has demonstrated positive community involvement during their academic career.
Merit Award
This award is given in recognition of a graduating undergraduate student who has surmounted significant challenges or adversity in their academic career.
Student Success Award
This award honors a graduating undergraduate student who is the first in their family to graduate from college.
Graduate Student Awards
Outstanding Graduate Student Award
This award honors a graduate student completing one of our graduate programs, based on academic achievement and overall excellence.
Outstanding Master's Student Award
This award honors master's student completing a degree in each of our graduate programs, based on excellence in their program. One award will be given for each master's program: Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Information Science and Master of Arts in Library and Information Science.
Outstanding PhD Student Award
This award honors a graduating student in our PhD program in honor of overall achievement and excellence.
Graduate Teaching Award
This award honors a teaching graduate student for excellence in instruction at the end of each academic year.
