Faculty Profiles

Assistant Professor of Practice Dr. Greg Chism focuses his teaching on data visualization, statistics and statistical learning, and social network analysis. His advice to students is straightforward: Reach out to your professors if you need assistance—something he ensures his students have the opportunity to do in his courses by providing “lab” time.

Dr. Steven Bethard joined the college in 2016 after serving as an assistant professor of computer and information science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research focuses on natural language processing and machine learning theory and applications. He teaches Neural Networks, advises students in the PhD in Information and oversees student directed research.

Dr. Jamie A. Lee joined the college in 2015, after earning their PhD in Information Resources and Library Science and Gender and Women’s Studies. Their areas of focus range from participatory research, interactive multimodality and innovative collaboration to embodied archives and bodies of knowledge—and much more.

“Media surrounds us in all parts of our lives—and has become more pervasive,” says Jack Myers, a College of Information Science lecturer and instructor of ESOC 314: Theories of New Media, an engaging seminar offered to undergraduate students in Spring 2024.

Dr. Meaghan Wetherell, who joined the college in 2020, teaches undergraduate and master's online courses in data visualization and analysis, science information and presentation, and STEM games. Based in central Washington, she is also an award-winning paleontologist and freelance science writer.
