Professor Yan Han is a Full Library Faculty at the University of Arizona. His research interests are Optical Character Recognition (OCR), data science, and metadata (XMP). He is actively participating in ISO standards, including Chair and drafting in XMP metadata(ISO 16684-4), and committee members for PDF (ISO 32000), PDF/A(ISO 19005), PDF/UA, and DOI. He is an expert member in ANSI Technical Advisory Group and ISO/TC171 document management applications. His contributions include building the world's largest Afghanistan digital repository (https://afghandata.org), the Pashto-English Dictionary (both with Ms. Atifa Rawan) http://pashtoenglish.org/, and U.S. Electronic Theses and Dissertations white paper. His 12+ students have secured software developer and library positions in Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Universities, and Library of Congress.
