Xuan Lu’s research interests lie in the field of human-centered data science, where she develops methodologies that utilize machine learning, causal inference, natural language processing, and more. These methodologies are designed to gain insights into and improve various aspects of our future society, including work, science, education, healthcare, and beyond—especially those triggered by technological innovations. Her work has been published in premier conferences such as the Web conference, UbiComp, ICWSM, IMC, and ICSE, and top-tier journals such as TWEB, TSE, TOSEM, and TMC. She is a recipient of the WWW Best Paper Award in 2019 and the Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship in 2017.
