Steven Wood

Dr. Steven Wood is an instructor in the University of Arizona College of Information Science and a digital forensic practitioner, educator and researcher with more than three decades of experience. He conducted his first digital forensic examination in 1993 while serving in the United States Army. Since then, he has conducted more than 7,000 digital forensic examinations and testified in more than 700 trials as a digital forensic expert. His professional work has included supporting national-level digital forensic operations and providing specialized training and operational assistance to government units internationally.

His work encompasses cellular and media exploitation, digital forensic education and applied research. His current research interests include digital exploitation, the use of digital forensics in counterterrorism and automation that improves the speed, consistency and scalability of digital forensic examinations. He also develops cellular and media exploitation courses, conducts needs assessments and translates his operational experience into practical methods for investigators and students.
