Shawna Matteson

Shawna Matteson is a senior academic advisor for the College of Information Science focusing on the Cyber Operations online program. She was born and raised in Texas, where most of her family currently resides. She received her bachelor's degree in family studies and human development from Abilene Christian University, which coincidentally has a Wildcat mascot as well. Go Wildcats, of all kinds! She has been in the field of education in some form for many years. She started her student services journey in a variety of administrative and student services roles at the University of Texas at Austin (2002-2011). She has worked at the University of Arizona for the past 10 years, more than eight of which have been in advising roles. In her personal time, she loves working on projects and walking around her property with my husband and cat, Sid. She enjoys reading, designing and piecing quilts, and visiting family back in Texas. Professionally, she loves working directly with students to help them identify and reach their academic and professional goals.
