She was born and raised in Texas, where most of her family currently resides. She received her bachelor’s degree in family studies and human development from Abilene Christian University, which coincidentally has a Wildcat mascot as well. Go Wildcats, of all kinds!
Shawna started her student services journey in a variety of administrative and student services roles at the University of Texas at Austin (2002-11). She transitioned to the University of Arizona (2012-current), where she began advising for a variety of undergraduate programs and diverse populations of students.
In her personal time, she loves homesteading with her husband, mother-in-law and pets. Shawna enjoys reading, designing and piecing quilts, and visiting family back in Texas. Professionally, she loves working directly with students to help them identify and reach their academic and professional goals. Shawna was honored with the University of Arizona Primary Advisor Award in fall 2025, which is a testament to her dedicated service in supporting our fabulous Wildcats. Bear Down!
