Teresa Miguel-Stearns

Professor Miguel-Stearns is a 2006 graduate of the University of Arizona Master of Arts in Library and Information Science and a Knowledge River Scholar during her time in the program. She earned her JD at the University of Richmond. Before serving as a professor and law library director at the University of Arizona, she was a law librarian and professor at the Lillian Goldman Law Library, Yale Law School, from 2016-2020, and held other positions at Yale Law School from 2005-2016. Teresa practiced law as a public defender for nearly a decade before pivoting to academic law librarianship. Today, she teaches and writes in the areas of legal and library science education, with a focus on legal history and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also works on issues of law library education and practice in Latin America, Indigenous information, and law library data collection and sharing. She has held numerous leadership positions in regional, national, and international library organizations, and is the recipient of awards in library literature, technology innovation, and service to the community and profession.
