INFO 592: Directed Research

iVoices Student Media Lab will focus on the production of media based on student narratives around experiences with technologies, and on integration of these new media into University curricula and scholarship around technologies. Students will learn basic practices in ethics, storytelling, and media production using applications of Adobe Creative Suite. Through the development of reusable media collections, students will also learn practices around media reuse and Open Educational Resource (OER) production. VIP students participate in a multi-term (by re-enrolling), multidisciplinary project-based learning course, working with team members ranging from sophomores through seniors and graduate students. Projects are advised by one or more faculty on topics of research, design, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This model opens opportunities for students to develop professionally valuable skills while making real-world contributions. While a project is framed within a faculty member's area of expertise, contributions are needed from a diverse array of disciplines. VIP 592 is intended for master's students who can take a leadership role in a project subtask
