ESOC 429 AI and the Art & Design of Learning

This course examines the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for designing learning experiences, blending foundational instructional design practices with the creative use of generative AI tools and systems. Students will learn to evaluate, use, and adapt AI tools across a lifecycle of instructional design, including using these technologies for designing instructional content and digital media, and for facilitating and assessing learning. This course will also help students identify and develop AI literacies that can be used within the learning design process, including critical, digital, creative, and information literacies. Through hands-on projects aligned to leading-edge field practices, students will gain applied experience in leveraging AI technologies for designing instruction for a multitude of professional contexts both in and outside of the field of information science.
