TechGuide Ranks U of A Master of Science in Information Science Among Nation’s Top Machine Learning Programs
TechGuide, which provides actionable information to help its readers make data-driven decisions on “the best tech-related educational and career opportunities,” has named the University of Arizona Master of Science in Information Science (MSIS) the nation’s #11 master’s in machine learning degree program.
In ranking the Master’s in Information Science offered by the College of Information Science (College of Information Science) so highly, TechGuide states that U of A is “delivering exceptional educational opportunities for today’s students” and “this achievement truly underscores your commitment to excellence.”
The STEM-designated MSIS, which is offered on campus in Tucson, can be completed in as few as 18 months. Students choose between one of two subplans: Human-Centered Computing, which explores simulations, virtual reality, user experience, personal data collection and more, or Machine Learning, with its data science focus in developing innovative scientific leaders.
Noting that a master’s degree in machine learning is a good investment due to the growing demand for machine learning specialists and data scientists, TechGuide based its 2024 rankings on such criteria as tuition, student-to-faculty ratio, admission rates, graduation rates and the number of program graduates.
“The robust and rewarding Master of Science in Information Science program, with its dual focus on human-centered computing and machine learning, is an excellent way for students to pivot their careers into the dynamic field of information science,” says Cristian Román-Palacios, College of Information Science assistant professor and MSIS coordinator and advisor.
“We are honored that TechGuide recognizes the overall excellence and value of the University of Arizona Master’s in Information Science,” says Catherine Brooks, College of Information Science dean and professor. “Our rigorous program arms students with the skills and insight they need to address the world’s most pressing information challenges.”
