Simmons Buntin

As director of marketing and communications, Simmons Buntin is responsible for marketing, branding, communications, media relations and storytelling for the college and its programs. He also represents the College of Information Science on university committees on marketing and communications. Prior to joining the College of Information Science in October 2023, Simmons was director of marketing and communications for the U of A College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, and, before that, web program manager and interim director of marketing and communications at the Eller College of Management. Simmons is also the founding editor-in-chief of Terrain.org, an award-winning online journal publishing a mix of literary and technical work on the built and natural environments since 1998. He is the author of five books: Satellite: Essays on Fatherhood and Home, Near and Far (Trinity University Press, 2025), the anthology Dear America: Letters of Hope, Habitat, Defiance and Democracy, Unsprawl: Remixing Spaces as Places (a collection of mixed-use community case studies) and two collections of poetry. He has published widely and lectured on project management, web development, writing, editing, publishing, urban planning and community development. He is a Project Management Institute-certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a member of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE) and Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP).
