Join the College of Information Science (InfoSci) in Orvieto, Italy this summer!
May 18 - June 24, 2025
Join InfoSci Associate Professor of Practice Diana Daly for five weeks this summer in historic Orvieto while taking field trips to Rome and other Italian cities. You don't need to be a College of Information Science student to participate in this dynamic study abroad experience—courses are open to all students.
When you join the College of Information Science, you'll take two popular classes while exploring the region:
Visual Content Creation for the Information Age is a dynamic course designed to equip students with the necessary skills to create, share and critically evaluate visual content across media, from AI to VR and everything in between. Throughout the course, students will engage in hands-on projects and exercises, to apply the concepts learned. Students will gain exposure to real-world examples of successful visual content campaigns and explore contemporary trends and advancements in the field, including artificial intelligence and mixed reality. By the end of this course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of how visual artists make meaning through their work using visual content creation principles and techniques.
This course lays a foundation for understanding how stories shape communities, identities and memories while immersing students in the Italian culture and international travel. Students will be required to call on their own intellectual, emotional and imaginative processes to develop their own skills in digital storytelling, interviewing, oral history collection and use of relevant digital storytelling tools to tell the stories of their time in Italy.
Study abroad opens the doors to an entire world of new experiences, and when you join the College of Information Science, you'll combine the best of history, culture and technology as you learn how to become an innovative digital storyteller.
