Aspiring Powers Initiative

Digital globe

The Aspiring Powers Initiative is a multi-year, interdisciplinary research effort to investigate the dynamics among the aspiring powers in international politics. Aspiring powers are defined as states which possess (a) the necessary potential, including economic and military capabilities, and (b) the intent to challenge the existing international order. The project is designed to better understand the driving forces behind foreign policies of aspiring powers and to measure the levels of collaborations among them in relevant foreign policy domains.
