Jocelyn Fisher

Dr. Jocelyn Fisher serves as the Faculty Affairs Coordinator. Jocelyn was among the fourth cohort of HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) Fellows under the leadership of Dr. Marla Franco. Her team’s project centered on servingness of the University’s Hispanic/Latinx populations and the university’s recertification of the Seal of Excelencia. In Jocelyn’s role, she is responsible for assisting with the onboarding of new faculty, working alongside the college’s peer review committee for annual performance reviews and promotion and tenure reviews. Jocelyn also launched a faculty peer mentoring program which serves to partner new(er) faculty with senior level faculty with the targeted goal of fostering meaningful, creative relationships, maximizing service opportunities, and eliminating the ubiquitous silos still resonating in our post-pandemic world. Dr. Fisher earned her BS in English from Jackson State University in 2006, her MS in Higher Education Administration from Mississippi College in 2011, and her EdD in Educational Innovation from Augusta University in 2019. Fisher’s dissertation titled Get Them Here: Keep Them Here (A Study of the Recruitment and Retention of Black Students in Higher Education) earned her an Award of Excellence in Research by the Augusta University College of Education. She served as the system administrator for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness where she implemented the university’s current online faculty activity reporting system. Dr. Fisher is a native of Mississippi, and is married to a fellow native, with one son and a stepdaughter and stepson.
