Organization Overview

The US Geological Survey (USGS) is a Federal agency located in the ENRB building on the University of Arizona campus. We provide science about the natural hazards that threaten lives and livelihoods, the water, energy, minerals, and other natural resources we rely on, the health of our ecosystems and environment, and the impacts of climate and land-use change. Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Student Employee to provide IT Help Desk Support to USGS staff. This role is essential for ensuring that our team can effectively utilize technology in their work.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for Windows operating systems and PC hardware
  • Assist users with troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Prioritize tasks and communicate effectively with staff
  • Perform software and operating system installations
  • Maintain printers, phones, and assist with conference setups
  • Configure and debug network issues
  • Handle a variety of IT-related tasks as needed
  • Ensure application of information security

Qualifications

  • Technical skills with Windows operating systems and PC hardware
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Work Schedule

This is an undergraduate university student position, requiring 15-20 hours of work during business hours (8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) when school is in session. The position may offer up to full-time hours when classes are not in session, with flexible scheduling options.
