What you will work on:
You will play a major role in continuing the building and implementation of a new AI tool, using machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to automate parts of the health insurance process known as Prior Authorization.
Hiring Manager:
Ed Hendel is a Manager of Data Science at Evolent, with 8 years of professional Healthcare Data Science experience, working remotely from Tucson, AZ. Ed earned his Master's degree from Harvard University in Systems Biology in 2016 and is the President of the Tucson Mountains Association (est. 1934), which advocates to protect and preserve the Sonoran Desert ecosystem in the Tucson area.
Team:
Ed’s team will include two other Data Scientists. You will also work cross-functionally with Developers, Engineers, Product Leaders, Clinicians, and others.
Career Progression:
In this role, you will have opportunities to grow as a Data Scientist, becoming a Subject Matter Expert or Thought Leader in innovative technologies, leading impactful initiatives, and influencing impactful decisions. Future opportunities could include leading in Data Science, Product, or other functions.

Compensation:
The base pay range for this role is $110,000 - $125,000.
Location:
This is a remote role. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with dispersed team members is vital to success in this role.
Ideal candidates will:
- Have professional experience with unstructured, text-based, healthcare data including patient and clinical records.
- Have expertise in SQL, with experience scrutinizing data through writing highly creative SQL code.
- Have deep Python experience.
- Have experience using LLMs (via API or locally) through professional, educational, or personal projects.
