IDEALS Council

Sunset with stars over U of A campus

The IDEALS Council (IDEALS: Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Actionable Leadership and Strategy) is a rotating committee of College of Information Science (InfoSci) faculty members and student ambassadors.

The council's purpose is to support the college to embody a culture of Inclusive Excellence that is both proactive and responsive in its efforts to support Inclusion, Diversity and Equity through Actionable Leadership and Strategy

The goal of the IDEALS Council is to make an impact and be a leader across the campus and across iSchools to center action that advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion.

The IDEALS Council is guided by strategic Boulders, Stones and Pebbles. Boulders are the foundational goals of our work (items 1-5 below). Stones are the features that correspond to those goals and Pebbles are the activities we engage with and enact in our work to accomplish our goals:

1.
Knowledge River Maintenance and Growth

2.
Curricular Planning

3.
Inclusive Hiring and Evaluation Processing

4.
Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment
